Gratitude for Every Part of Your Story

As November quickly approaches, gratitude starts showing up everywhere: in social media prompts, in the classic "what am I grateful for?" list, everywhere on morning television.
This year, I'd like to offer you a different way to look at gratitude in your world.
In Life Drafting, we look at our lives through four Story Lines: Contribution, Connection, Health, and Play. Together, they make up the whole of the story you're writing. So instead of one long gratitude list, I invite you to try a simple Story Lines gratitude audit.
Grab your notebook (or the back of an envelope; no fancy materials required) and write one thing you're grateful for in each Story Line:
Contribution: a piece of work, service, or effort that felt meaningful this year
Connection: a person or relationship that shaped your story
Health: something your body, mind, or spirit carried you through
Play: a moment of joy, curiosity, or lightness
That's it. Just one note per line.
You may notice that some lines fill up right away while others feel harder to write. That's not a failing grade. It's simply a note in the margin, and it tells you something about where your story is right now. You don't need to fix anything yet.
Just notice.
And here's the best part: hold onto what you write. When we gather in December for Draft Your Year, we'll return to your Story Lines and go deeper. You'll arrive with a page already started, and starting is always the hardest part.
Retreat Announcement:
I'm deep in crafting the workbook for Draft Your Year, and I have to tell you, I'm having the best time.
Every page is being shaped with you in mind: space to read back over 2026, revisit your Story Lines, and begin drafting the year ahead with intention, not pressure.
If you've already saved your seat, thank you. I can't wait to sit down and write alongside you.
And if there's someone in your life who could use a fresh page this December, a friend, sister, or colleague in the middle of their own rewrite, I'd love for you to pass this along. Drafting is always a little easier in good company.
