Shorter Days

A friend shared this post recently, and I felt VERY seen.
While everyone else is mourning the earlier sunsets, I'm over here thinking about cozy evenings, pajamas, a good book, and absolutely no reason to leave the house. Seriously! I have talked about my love of all things autumn before. The pumpkin spiciness, Gilmore Girls, candles and blankets.
It's not just the fall leaves and cooler weather, but the invitation to slow down a little, turn inward, and embrace the cozy. It's often called cocooning. But a cocoon is deceptive. What looks like nothing from the outside is actually a hotbed of activity on the inside.
So just because this season looks a bit more inward, doesn't mean that "stuff" isn't happening.
I think we sometimes forget that it's okay to have seasons without the frenzied, chaotic productivity. We're so accustomed to staying busy, making plans, working toward goals, and filling our calendars that a quiet evening at home can almost feel like something we need to justify.
But what if we didn't?
What if we treated this season as an opportunity to cocoon? Not because we're hiding from life, but because we're enjoying it in a different way.
And since it's the last quarter of the year, maybe we don't treat it as the "final push" that I'm seeing all over the productivity accounts on social media. Maybe it can be about evaluation. Introspection. Looking at the year and determining exactly what fits into it and what doesn't. Taking stock of what felt right this year and what didn't. Deciding how we want to move forward.
That's exactly what we'll be doing together at our own cozy weekend, Draft Your Year. Think pajamas, reflection, and making plans for the year ahead (details below). Invite a friend!
Journal Prompts:
What does "cozy" look and feel like for me? What are my favorite comfort rituals?
Where do I feel pressure to justify rest, and where did that belief come from?
If this season were a chapter in my story, what would I want it to be about?
What's one thing I could do a little less of this fall, and what would I gain?
What might be quietly growing in me right now, even if it isn't visible yet?'
Affirmations:
This quiet season is part of my story, too.
I'm allowed to enjoy my life in softer ways.
Something good is growing, even when I'm resting.
